Yes, because the server uses the game files. The server is a modified client afaik.

I just copied my actual gaming Riggs Full BF3 install over to my server. Put the VU files inside that folder and BLAMO, Launched, it as per the normal instructions.
So I think you are asking do you need to install origin on your server . If that is what you are asking then NO you don’t.
But you will have to authenticate it on first launch.
